Today adults across the country want to complete their education, advance their careers, or change their professions. Distance education provides them the opportunity to pursue these goals without leaving a current job or family. In order to succeed, it takes dedication, self-direction, and perseverance on the part of the student.
The Internet-based distance education program is designed for people who need alternative study times. This program is a synchronous so that individuals may vary their times of study.
Wichita State ’s distance education program in Gerontology offers students the 39 semester hours necessary to acquire the Master of Arts degree in Gerontology with minimum on-campus requirement.
A variety of courses are offered each term. Students will be expected to complete necessary coursework within the given term. The internship can be taken in the fall, spring, or summer semesters.
Most of the gerontology courses are delivered via the internet. Students access these web-based courses from the University Blackboard access portal available to WSU students and faculty. Discussion board and e-mail will also be employed. Additionally, gerontology faculty members are available during office hours to respond to calls or emails. Library resources are provided online via a wealth of electronic databases and indexes including full-text resources, e-books and e-journals.
